Welcome to swim in Espoo!
We are looking forward getting to know all the children in Espoo! FitPit is the leading swim company in Finland. We are founded in 2015.
Swimming Sessions
According to the decision of Espoo City Sports Department, swimming lessons are organized for 1st to 4th graders. There are four swimming lessons in total, 45 minutes per session. In addition, technique lessons will be provided as needed for 5th to 6th graders. For pre-schoolers there will be two 30min swimming lessons.
These swimming lessons for schools and pre-schools will be divided into two parts. One part for the 2022 autumn season and the other for the 2023 spring season. You can make changes to the scheduled swimming lessons within the school. For the pre-schools the given swimming lessons are set.

Name lists
Please fill in the name lists in advance for the pupils. Instructions will be given before your first swimming lesson. Please submit the name lists also for the pre-schoolers, that’s how we will be aware of the group size in advance
Transportation
The transportation will leave from the parking lot of the closest school listed in the swimming schedule, or from a location agreed upon separately with the bus company.
Bus transportation is handled by the Korsisaari company in co-operation with the swimming teachers. In case of disruption (e.g. the bus is late), please contact the dispatcher (tel. 044 424 2420).
NOTE: According to the new policy all the schools and pre-schools within 5km from the swimming hall will either walk or use public transport when arriving the swimming hall. The policy has been made by the city of Espoo for cost saving reasons.
Organizing the education and responsibility
During the entire swimming lesson the class teacher is responsible for the pupils as they are on duty. General supervision at the swimming pool area is under the supervision of the swimming hall and FitPit staff. The safety in the changing rooms, shower-, and sauna areas is also the class teachers responsibility. In case a group of pre-schoolers only use one locker- and showering side, supervisor for both gener is not required.
The swimming teacher is responsible for the group and the pedagogical content of the education during the swimming lesson. Pupils are not allowed to go into the swimming pool without permission from the swimming teacher. It is very important for everyones safety to let the swimming teacher know if in the group there’s children with injuries, behavior issues or anything that affects the water safety. In case a pupil needs a personal assistant or any additional support in the pool, the personal assistant has to be in the pool with the pupil.
Swimwear and Equipment
One may only enter the pool wearing swimwear or shorts. We also recommend that children bring their own swim goggles so that they’ll enjoy swimming and diving better. Pupils can also borrow a swimsuit, a long burkini swimsuit or/and swimming goggles from the swimming hall (FitPit instructor) if needed.
Children get cold easily. Please bring towels to the pool area so they’ll both stay and get warm before and after the swimming lesson.
Important rules in the swimming hall
Remember to shower properly before entering the pool.
Shower and sauna always without a swimsuit.
Tie up long hair or wear a swim cap. Wearing goggles is also recommended.
Always walk in the swimming hall. Running is dangerous due to slippery floors.
